Emily Brown

Director of Government Funding

Emily Brown, CEcD, is the Director of Government Funding at the Southwest Pennsylvania Municipal Project Hub, where she works with communities to identify and apply for federal funds, financing and tax incentives. 


Emily’s career in economic development includes work at the local, state, and national levels. Prior to her role at the Hub, Emily was the Senior Director of Knowledge Management and Development at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). At IEDC, Emily led a variety of federal and foundation-funded grant projects concentrated on equitable and green economic development. She has also worked with communities in a consulting role with Fourth Economy, leading the development of economic strategic plans in communities in Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia. In 2015 she was named one of 40 under 40 Rising Stars in Economic Development and she is a Certified Economic Developer. 


Additionally, Emily has been involved with many creative projects, including the Kickstarter “Cards Against Urbanity,” a card game about urban planning. She was also a founding board member of the Incremental Development Alliance, which promotes small scale real estate development. Emily lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her husband, two toddlers, and cat.
