About the Webinar
Join us for a day-long interactive workshop focused on identifying and increasing the investment-readiness of transportation, broadband, and community economic development projects in the Mid Mon Valley!
Who should attend?
This invite-only event will gather municipal staff; elected officials; and others from locals nonprofits, businesses, and community groups who are taking the lead on development projects in the Mid Mon Valley. This is a multi-municipal event that will include leaders from New Eagle, Carroll, Monongahela, Donora, West Newton, Charleroi, Monessen, North Belle Vernon, Coal Center, California, Brownsville, and West Brownsville.
What will we accomplish
Map out pipeline of current and potential transportation, community economic development, and broadband projects
Use the SWPA Hub's Investment Readiness Tool to identify how these projects can attract funding and achieve impact
Establish next steps for implementation in partnership with local collaborators, subject matter experts, technical service organizations, and funding agencies
Workshop agenda
9:00a - 10:00a: Introduction and ice-breaker
We will kick off the workshop with a fun activity designed to facilitate networking and share perspectives on and data about development needs and opportunities.
10:00a - 11:30a: Activity 1: Project mapping
In small groups of members from one or more communities, we will use an interactive process to map out current and potential projects that relate to the three priority focus areas.
11:30a - 12:30p: Lunch
12:30p - 1:00p: Presentation: Investment opportunities and readiness
The Hub will lead a brief presentation about funding and financing opportunities and introduce our investment readiness assessment tool.
1:00p - 2:30p:: Activity 2: Assessing investment readiness
In small topic-based groups, we will use the Hub's investment readiness tool to identify steps to increase the ability of projects to access funding and achieve impact.
2:30p - 3:30p: Discussion: Next steps
As a full group, we will reflect on readiness strengths and needs and identify concrete steps to access investment and achieve impact.
3:30p - 4:30p: Networking and resource share
We will be joined by technical assistance organizations, state funding agencies, and subject matter experts ready to share resources and support next steps.
