Brittany reno

Chief Executive Officer

Brittany is a passionate lifelong resident of Pennsylvania. A systems thinker, she is driven every day by a curiosity to understand and improve the complex and interrelated community and economic development dynamics affecting the wellbeing of people in our region.

She also serves as the mayor of Sharpsburg Borough, where her work has included launching and growing a grassroots, resident-driven community development organization and building strategic cross-sector partnerships over ten years to build greater shared capacity, stronger community networks, and interconnected expertise across issues and systems important to the community and region.

Prior to her work launching the Hub, her multi-municipal cooperative work has included service on the boards of CONNECT (the Congress of Neighboring Communities); Venture Outdoors; the Tri-COG Land Bank; the Cooper-Siegel Library System; and consulting on a variety of multi-community and cross-sector collaborative efforts to do good for people and the planet in the Pittsburgh region.

She served two terms in the AmeriCorps Public Allies program and worked in youth workforce development and human services, primarily serving Allegheny County youth aging out of the foster care system, and nonprofit fundraising and workforce development after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Media & Professional Communications concentrating in Corporate/Community Relations.

She earned her Master of Sustainability in Urban & Energy Systems at Chatham University in 2022, focusing much of her research there on the sustainable, equitable redevelopment of riverfront brownfield sites and their surrounding communities and natural ecosystems.
